Francia Raisa recently discussed the estrangement between her and Selena Gomez, emphasizing that there wasn't a specific reason for their falling out. In an interview with USA Today published on Thursday, the How I Met Your Dad actress highlighted the importance of the break in their friendship, noting that they never had any significant issues with each other.
"Nothing happened, and if you ask either of us, we don't know what happened," Raisa, 35, said. "But we needed that separation, and when you come back together, you're serious. She and I are still getting to know each other again."
Raisa expressed amazement at the intense interest people have in their friendship, which has experienced highs and lows since they first met as teenagers in 2007. A decade later, Raisa selflessly donated one of her kidneys to Gomez, who was 31 at the time.
In 2018, Raisa revealed to Harry Connick Jr. that both she and Gomez went through a period of sadness after the transplant surgery. The friendship faced speculation in 2022 when Gomez referred to Taylor Swift as her "only friend" in the industry during an interview. Additionally, Gomez didn't mention Raisa in her Apple TV+ documentary, which featured some of her friends.

Responding to the apparent omission, Raisa commented on the situation in a now-deleted virtual entertainment post. Gomez reportedly addressed the criticism online, commenting on a TikTok video speculating about their alleged rift, stating, "Sorry I didn't mention every person I know."
During her recent interview with USA Today, the Grown-ish star confirmed that she didn't communicate much with Gomez in 2022. However, they reconnected following Gomez's public birthday message, and during their dinner, they decided to focus on positive aspects by saying, "It's no meat, just salsa."
Raisa also emphasized that even during their separation, she never regretted giving her kidney to Gomez. The timing of their reconnection, according to Raisa, seemed orchestrated by the universe, and they decided to move forward with a positive outlook on their renewed friendship.
